The beating of helicopter blades blocks out all other sound. You see the first plume of smoke rising over the horizon, and you can almost smell it: this is the flame.
You hear a crackle in your ear.
"Well, these woods may be ancient, but at least they're far from the actual civilized world."
It's the pilot, trying to break the awkward silence.

After a few more moments of silence, you hear him again.
"So, remind me, what brings you out here? Not a lot of people coming up without fire fighting gear."

[[...|mount]]You start to move in, under the overhang.
Before long, you notice some signs of life. But not human life. The skeletons of small animals litter the place. This is, quite clearly, some animal's home.
Just as you turn to leave, you hear the deep, primal screech that you've been dreading for the past three days.
[[It's a bear.]]And it's charging. The wind sweeps up its fur as it runs, saliva dripping from its hungry mouth. You see yor entire life flash before your eyes.
Remember your first kiss? Standing in the space between buildings, under a foggy twilight sky. You were so awkward, and it wasn't even their first time. But it was such an exciting awkwardness. Such an innocent, youthful excitement.
[[You need to act.|bear]]It's getting deadly close. You have to unfreeze yourself.
