To use Zoom, a user needs a few things to get started: a computer or mobile device with a webcam, a reliable internet connection (typically a wired connection is more reliable), and headphones with microphone capability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Getting Started<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is recommended that you test your computer prior to attending a meeting. You can do this by going to <a href=\"https:\/\/maine.zoom.us\/test\">maine.zoom.us\/test<\/a>. You will be prompted to download and install the zoom.us app. If nothing happens, click Download and Run Zoom.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have set up and tested the zoom app you are ready to join a meeting using a provided url or meeting ID.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slack<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since our class uses Slack and I have integrated the Zoom app, you may be able to find\/use the Zoom URL directly from there. Otherwise you can use my ZoomURL found in Slack #general<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZOOM Etiquette<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>When we meet via the web, on Zoom, Google Meet or other please be sure to:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you haven\u2019t used Zoom before click the link to download Zoom prior to the day of the meeting and familiarise yourself with any features you may need to use on the day \u2013 mute\/unmute microphone, stop\/start video, screenshare etc. <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/test\">You can test your equipment here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Join early \u2013 up to 5 minutes before the meeting start time this way you can tackle any technical issue before we start the meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Treat this meeting respectfully, I expect professionalism.<\/li>\n<li>Please have your video on unless you are experiencing connection issues<\/li>\n<li>Find a quiet space without interruptions \/ background noise<\/li>\n<li>Have a plain background and avoid backlight (e.g., from bright windows)<\/li>\n<li>Have good lighting on your face so you can be seen clearly<\/li>\n<li>Adjust your camera to be at around eye level if possible \u2013 especially take note of the angle of your laptop screen if using the built-in camera.<\/li>\n<li>Mute your microphone when not talking<\/li>\n<li>Be aware you are on camera and try to avoid doing other tasks, checking emails, looking at your phone etc.<\/li>\n<li>Remember our classes are being recorded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zoom Quick Start Guide for Students Everyone at the University of Maine has a Pro Zoom license.
