The Elevator Story Elements

In this short film the protagonist is the man in the first scene. He trys to use the elevator to get up to another floor. While there are other variables that try to stop him

The crisis he runs into is the people in the elevator. When he enters the first elevator it is filled with over weight people. This makes him tense, thinking that the elevator cant handle the weight of everyone. This causes him to exit the elevator and wait for a different one. Once he left the first crisis was averted he is met with a new one. The next elevator is filled with sick people who are coughing and sneezing all around him.

Manipulating Light

The lightning and color is relatively dull. The protagonist is wearing a black shirt while standing in the middle of the crisis. Most of the overweight people are wearing very loud and colorful putting an emphasis on the fact they are the crisis and it is all around him. Another lighting that puts an emphasis on his situation is the floor number light. With it much brighter, its shows that it is saving grace of the crisis and he needs it to land on his floor.

Framing

The framing of the shots allow you feel what the protagonist is feeling. When he is in the elevator with the overweight people he is being shuffled around the elevator to the point where you can’t see him with the over weight people. This gives a feeling of how cramped and tight the space is. Then there are close up to the people that he looks at and when he looks at the floor indicator. He just wants to see his number light up.

Visual Style

The filmmakers very effective with their filming style. They made the viewer also feel cramped with the protagonist. They made the film feel like the protagonist was feeling and it was uneasy to fit in with the rest of the people.
