  1. Someone I personally find to be especially inspiring is former president of the United States Barack Obama. He has the utmost integrity, respect for his fellow man, and all around encompasses what it means to be an American.
  2. For as long as I can remember, space has been the subject of my highest curiosity. Ive done a lot of research on many aspects of it in the past.
  3. An activity that I am engaged in regularly is the playing and composition of music. It has been a huge part of my life for ten years.
  4. A behavior that I’ve noticed among my peers is a general lack of consensus or knowledge over the state of our major.
  5. Ive volunteered at the homeless center in Bangor a few times in the past.
  6. An event taking place currently is the Robert Meuller report.
  7. Something thats been on everyones mind here at school is the epidemic of potholes ravaging the streets of UMO.
  8. I do not have any previous footage of anything listed above unfortunately. However If I were to do something on space,  I wrote a fairly inclusive essay on NASA a couple years back that has some pretty good info.

  1. I think Im going to go with the state of New Media and the public response. I believe this is a very feasible topic as it is relevant to me and also readily available to research and film.
  2. I have access to location as it is on campus and a couple groups/specific people I intend to interview during this process. I would have permission to do so.
  3. I dont think this topic is too small. First I think its important to gather what people believe the meaning of New Media is. To do this, I will first ask non majors, then major upper and lower classmen, professors, and if possible, the head of the department. I then want to delve into the reasons why New Media isn’t necessarily working currently and how it can improve.
  4. I dont think the topic will be too big, I think we are more than able to tackle this subject.

Dear sir/ma’am,

New Media, in its current state, does not adequately represent the overall consensus of the student body. It is troubling to me that a vast majority of us don’t have an answer to the meaning of New Media, or the current status of our department. In order to fill in these gaps, I along with a few other students are filming a documentary. I would like you to help us fill in these gaps by answering a few questions on camera so that we are able to better piece together the underlying problems in the New Media major.

Thank you

2.a) This documentary is to shed light on the inner intricacies of the New Media major both good and bad. Specifically how the current model of New Media fits in with the desires of its students, and the future of the major. We will interview students, professors ,and the head of the department to gauge their takes on the subjects at hand.

2.b) Three reasons I want to make this documentary is that first, I have grown frustrated with the current system of how things have been run thus far. Secondly, I hope to give other New Media majors clarification on whether or not this is the right field for them. Lastly, while unlikely, I hope to show how far removed the students are from the staff in their goals and wants for the major.

2.c) There are five people in our documentary group. That includes myself, Aiden Nolan, Trystin Killer, Max Harris, and Owen Savage.

2.d) The setting of this documentary will take place right here on campus out on the streets and in the offices of professors.

2.e) The project will consist of planning, script writing and getting permission from participants, interview filming, b roll filming, and then finally editing. I want to keep interview and b roll filming separate because they are both wildly important and should be given their own specific time.
