Analysis 3- Andreas Sandoval

  1. When it comes to dialogue in the film, minimal words are being said. It seems like when the characters speak it either go silent, or there is some ominous noise going on in the background like the scene when they are standing in front of the adults and whenever they spoke it looked like it would go silent. The dialogue occurs occasionally and it more substituted by the sounds. There are breaks between the words being expressed by the characters. Usually, it would cut back and forth between the people that we’re talking to show that they are interacting with each other.

2. Some sound effects are heard throughout the film like leaves crunching and the dramatic noises. When it comes to the leaves crunching it makes out that they are in a forest and this is where the film is going to take place. It seems like the effects don’t play a huge role in the plot and are there to declare the setting of the film. I think they do work to give off tones throughout the movie because without them it would hard to make out what is going on.

3. It seemed like it was a xylophone that was being played in the film. I thought it was being played in the background and set off this creepy vibe. The music looks like it giving off the tone of being a child because it seems to be in the mood of a childhood nursery rhyme

4. I think the sound is used in a good way in this film because the adults step into the scene; it gets quite fast. There is also the sound effects used in the battle scene, like the guy drawing his sword to show that he isn’t playing around. I think the sounds and music in this film show kids that don’t want to traverse into adulthood.

1.Most of this film was silent, and there weren’t any words being said other than what was playing on the TV. The dialogue was mostly expressed with emotions and gestures created by the main character and the supporting characters. There are usually edits that cut to black and show the character at a different location shining his shoes

2.There are a lot of sound effects played throughout this short film. What I noticed was that some sounds played louder than others like when the girl was laughing on the phone or when the nurse was sifting through her keys. It seems like these are noises that disturb the main character because this film may take place in a mental hospital from the looks of it. When it comes to sensual experience, it makes you hear what this guy is hearing

3.There is a harmonica that is played at the beginning and the end of the sequence and is played in the background. This music might be used to show the isolation that he is in and how this place feels like a prison

4.The sound design in this film is to probably try to make you feel uncomfortable especially when that liquid falls on his boot. The sound it made makes me feel uneasy because you don’t know what it is going to happen next. The style that the sound establishes is that sense of being alone.
