In the film called Joe, there is no dialogue at all and for that reason, the sounds that occur in the film are very pronounced and are louder than they should be and it gives an uncomfortable feeling when watching it. For example, some sound effects including the cleaning of shoes and the footsteps however they’re are more sounds like when a random guy shakes the bottle or the nurse is playing with the keys. The main sounds however are the cleaning of the shoes and walking. Those are more important because it shows that the main character, Joe, takes care of his shoes really well. The only music in this video is at the beginning when its showing the main character cleaning his shoes and at the end when it show the main character cleaning his “new” shoes. The music is a slow harmonica sound. I think this music is used because it fits the vibe of the setting the guy is in which is in a mental institution and its quiet and boring so the harmonica gives it a “blues” vibe which fits. Going back to the sound, I think the reason why the sounds are amped up is because it adds a disturbance when watching the video and makes you feel uneasy since there is no dialogue. I think that’s the intention of this video.
