Analysis 3 – David L.

  1. In the film Time Persists there if very little dialog and it is headed for interpretation. The exchanged dialog was essential pertaining to we need to grow up. The dialog paces itself in the center of the short to emphasize the point of the build up and deliver the conflict.
  2. There are a few sound effects through out the short. The basic environment sounds were the most prevalent and it had a few effects for detail. When they are lined up and facing each other, as each character is drawing their toy weapon of choice you can hear a sound representing the real version of the weapon. This was to emphasize the imagination behind it.
  3. There was music at the beginning of the film. If I remember correctly it was the song “Mockingbird”. It was used in this scene to express and show that the people we were watching were child like, as it is a common lullaby. The way it was edited it in made the hide and seek game feel like a horror film.
  4. The sound worked really great with in the short. It expressed the child like nature of the adults, and when it was more serious with the boring workers it emphasized that as well. Overall the sound expressed a story of a war between a fun world and a serious world, where imagination is killed by never ending work.
