Analysis 4

“Elevator”

  1. The protagonist is the man who first enters the elevator and is the main character. The man needs to get to the 9th floor, but more and more people get on each floor he passes. The crisis would be that all the people getting on are big people and he notices a sign in the corner of the elevator on the wall the says the weight limit is 2,000lbs he uses his phone and makes a best guess of each persons weight and adds them up: 2,001 pounds. He doesn’t want to say anything because I’m guessing he doesn’t want to complain to a bunch of people and say they’re too fat for the elevator. He finally sees one really fat dude about to get on the elevator and decides to leave the elevator and take the next one. He gets on the next one which has fewer people that are smaller in size and he’s happy, but they all have the swine flu.
  2. The focus is on the main character in the elevator. Other people are also in focus but since he is centered it is clear what the focus point is. Lighting is consistent through out the film and the textures a pretty bland. Outside the elevator seems darker than inside the elevator.
  3. The framing mostly follows the main character but some shots show his perspective like when he’s looking at each large person on the elevator and trying to guess their weight and each time someone new gets on the elevator it shows his perspective.
  4. I think that its a pretty low budget film, the colors and lighting are bland but I think that it works well for the film. It fits the setting. They don’t need high quality anything because the more average looking the setting and the film appear to be the more relatable the film becomes to the audience.
