Analysis 4-Andreas Sandoval

The Elevator

1.Story Elements

It seems that the protagonist is the guy at the beginning who is stepping into the elevator.

Beginning: He wants to take the elevator to get into the elevator to get to his designated floor

Middle: His struggle is that there are people that look to be overweight that keep getting on to the elevator and the main guy seems to get a little worried and uncomfortable

End: He gets off at another floor and tries to switch elevators. The next elevator has less overweight people but they are all sick and start coughing sporadically

2. Manipulating light

There are some moments in to the film that show the camera focusing on the weight capacity of the elevator and when it shows him calculating everyone’s eight on his phone. The light of the elevator really set the tone of the film to give off the feeling of a cramped elevator. This film’s color scheme wasn’t very vibrant and had more of a dull tone. The overall look of the images were nice and it showed how uncomfortable the guy was in both elevators

3. Framing

During the film it would show close ups of people in the elevator to show how there was so little of space. The camera would move around the elevator showing the civilians expressions and whenever a new person would enter. They would use depth at some points to show the main guy was very different compared to everyone else

4. Visual Style

The visual style was very well done in this film and it got its point across. The somewhat dull color tone really showed the feeling of being in a crammed elevator. They did a very good job at showing the comedy in the visuals throughout the film as well.
