Analysis 4 – David L.

The main character of the story is a healthy middle aged man. He’s trying to get to the upper level of a building to continue with his day. As he is climbing floors more people whom are considered to be overweight. He pulls out his phone and does rough math to guess what the total weight of the elevator was holding. After calculating this he panics and gets out on the next floor as a very heavily offset man tries to enter the elevator. He pauses for a second then proceeds to get into another elevator with appealingly healthy people. As the door shuts behind him everyone starts to cough and sneeze, only to get off on the same floor as a swine flu clinic. He basically went from possibly getting stuck in an elevator to possible catching the swine flu.

Lighting was kept consistent through out most of the film but the shots got quicker and more intense as the protagonist started to worry about both situations and it really played off well. The lighting was slightly different between the elevators to make the new one seem much better and appealing.

The framing was very consistent in the elevator and it was mostly panned on everyone in the elevator unless it needed to switch to our protagonist to provide context and information to the viewer.

I personally enjoyed the style of this video, and it made you sympathize with the protagonist. It made you worry when he got worried etc. The pacing played out great and the story told itself without needing much context.
