Analysis-MichaelS
This film did a good job at using camera angles and details within shots to showcase the social situation surrounding the characters. Camera angles where used to showcase the strength and weakness of each character according to their social standing. During the scene where the puppy is abused the young African American child was showcased with camera angles from above, looking down on him. This showcases how little control he has over the situation. During the same scene the older white male is showcased with camera angles that look up at him from below, showing the dominance he has over the other characters and over the scene.
The films overall plot I think showcases why sometimes decisions can come back to hurt us in the end. If the boss hadn’t abused the puppy in such a way that it appeared to be done by the young child, the dog would have had no aversion to that child 20 years later. But because he had abused the dog like that, the now grown child was unable to help him when he had a heart attack because the dog was trying to attack him.
