INT. ROOM – DAY
JIM enters room. ALEXANDER is sitting in room at long table. JIM is in a suit and tie, as is ALEXANDER.
ALEXANDER
Gestures at empty seat across from him. Hey, Jim. Take a seat.
JIM
Alright, boss. Why did you want to see me? Is there something wrong?
ALEXANDER
From above shoulder shot, looking down at JIM to create a sense of power. I wanted to discuss you, Jim. Your future at this company.
JIM
Visibly nervous. Pulls at collar. How so? I thought I was…
ALEXANDER
Jim, your performance as of late has been fine. However, as you know, times are hard. And, well, we have to make some tough choices.
JIM
But if I was doing a good job, why would I be the one to… He stares into the camera as if the audience were the boss. I’m being let go.
ALEXANDER
Nods. Yes. I’m sorry, but you’ve been missing a lot of work lately, and—
JIM
Cutting ALEXANDER off. Because my wife has been sick. I have to take her to the oncologist. You know that. You’re firing me because my wife has cancer?
ALEXANDER
It isn’t that simple, Jim. I’m sorry.
JIM
Hesitating. No, you’re not.
Camera switches to close up of Jim’s hand, and pans as his hand crosses his suit jacket to a bulge in his breast pocket.
JIM
But you will be.
JIM takes a gun out of his breast pocket and points it at ALEXANDER. The camera goes into first person, seeing JIM’S hand as he points the gun at ALEXANDER. Without hesitation, he pulls the trigger as the camera shakes and goes black. When the scene returns, it is of a wide angle shot in which JIM has fled and ALEXANDER is dead in his chair.
