Brainstorm

Music video for band that I know, Skateboarding video, cooking video, experimental film.

These topics are all very attainable possibilities and almost all of them would involve using either actors or extra film crew. The skate boarding video could be fun because the weather is finally getting nicer and there are a lot of places around campus where I could film some skate boarding. Not only could I have a lot of footage of skateboarding on campus but I could also supplement this footage with interviews from students about skating on campus. The cooking video is another interesting Idea that would work pretty well. It would be fun to film a cooking show where I or someone I know could cook up a meal and provide directions about the best way to do it. The one thing that might be tough about this idea is that it would be hard to make a minute long cooking video being that most recipes take a while. The music video Idea could be interesting but I would encounter the same problem as the cooking video, most songs are longer then a minute. My last idea, the experimental film could be a good way to make the music video work. Rather then have a music video for a traditional song I would make a music video for a 1 minute experimental piece.

My idea for the experimental film is to experiment with video and audio quality. I would like to take a piece of film and incrementally reduce the quality over time, and do the same to the audio accompaniment. I have experimented doing this type of thing with recording, taking an audio track and recording the sound of it being played in a room. Then recording the sound of that track being played in the room and again and again until the frequencies that are most resonant with the room become amplified. It would be interesting to try this same process with film on a tv screen instead. I could take a minute recording and record a film of it being played on a tv and take that film and record that being played on the same tv and so on.

Here is an example of the type of process I would like to experiment with.
