Report 3 – Colby Cote

My position for project 3 was to be Co-director. I helped by pitching in some ideas that I thought would make the film look good. I had some ideas that were used in the film but I was only able to give my input on the first day of brainstorming on how we were going to make the video. I wasn’t able to actually be on location when the filming took place because I had a bad injury. I’d say that we were prepared for making this video because we knew what we were going to make our video about fairly quickly and we got some good ideas down as well for planning out the film. After the film was done I’d say the video had the right elements in it because we promoted the guys clothing brand through multiple shots/angles, we had an interview with him describing his brand, and we had music that fit the theme of the video.

I can’t give much input on how well the group worked since I wasn’t on location during the time of filming because of my leg injury but from the outcome I’d say everyone worked well. Some of my ideas were incorporated into the film which was nice to see and the filming and editing looked nice since it fit the theme/style of what we were going for.

I’d say that the message of the brand was good but there could’ve been a little more interview questions/information about who the guy is so that way you know about him more than just what he makes. The pacing of shots and sound were good. I think the audio could’ve transitioned to being quieter during the interview part a little better but other than that it seems fine. The dialogue was nice as well. The voice wasn’t muffled or distorted so you could hear the guy clearly and you could also hear the music in the background just enough where it wasn’t disturbing. I’d say the overall impact was good. We got shot of the guy making his own brand and got answers on why he decided to start a clothing brand and what drives him to keep doing it.
