For this project the most challenging part for me was editing all of my footage down to 1 minute. I had filmed about an hour maybe more worth of footage and it was hard to cut it all down to a minute because there were many scenes in which I wanted to leave in the film longer or add to the film in general but it would not fit the time frame eventually I was able to get the film to a place that I liked. The most enjoyable part of this project for me was being proud of the final piece as well as working on the color correcting. I was most proud of accomplishing the emotion the viewer gets from watching my final piece. I learned while making this video that even though it didn’t come out the way I wanted it to I was still able to like and be proud of the piece in which resulted in my final.
There is a variation of shots in the video the way they are shot and the way my subject interacts with the camera itself adds to the story. Some shots are filmed out of focus on purpose and some shots are extreme closeups of her face. The majority of the shots are closeups giving this story a very personal feel to it. The dialogue is clear and moves the story along, the b – roll on top of the dialogue is almost like a seperate story on top of itself but in the end both stories come together as one. There is an absence of sound besides the dialogue for a reason which puts emphasis and focus on her words and the importance of her story. In the only sound that emerges is the birds chirping which coincides with the only bright almost glowy shot, symbolizing new beginnings, which matches her ending dialogue of the story. I think the pacing of the story would be better if we did not have a time limit, i think there are definitely parts of the story that could have been dragged out a little longer. However for the time limit I think the pacing of the shots works with the story definitely making it jarring to watch. I am very satisfied with how everything came out as I would like it to a little longer I believe it does the job and gets the emotion i intended across to the viewer.
