I found myself to be the most challenging part of this project as my final project was the third video I filmed and edited for this project. It was difficult to get out of my head and not strive for perfection. I realized how much I love being behind the camera because filming yourself is no fun. I had to learn to have patience with myself and my best was okay and it is not necessary to have fancy editing tricks to have a good video.
The shots used in my film where unplanned for the most part with the exception of the interview. The raw b roll shots give a home movie vibe. The “plot” is a letter to the incoming freshman, it is an interview/ narration. The instrumental to “knock knock” by MacMiller is playing in the background to fill and awkward silences. The editing is simple in an interview gone narration as more of the story of the room is revealed more clips are shown. I am satisfied with this simple cheesy video.
