Report 4 MK Jones
What really surprised me about this project was how the idea of editing something no longer scared me. This is because I was able to take complete control of what I wanted the video to look like, and that made it so much better. I knew what shots I wanted, I knew what vibe I wanted the video to have, and I was able to rely on myself. Overall I think it turned out really well. I wish I had gotten more accepted students days, because that’s when a lot of the Team Maine members showed up, so I had more variety, but I think I conveyed the feeling of family and fun that is ever present in Team Maine.
Overall I am incredibly happy with the outcome of my project. I enjoyed making my video and it was really good to know that I was going to be able to have to do everything by myself and that meant it would get done in a timely fashion. If there was one thing I would change it would be the background music, and make it something not as happy go lucky and make it more sentimental happy. But other than that, I really like the way my video turned out. Making sure I had the proper exposure was tough at first, because my camera was being a little wonky, but I figured that out once I got to the “set” and was able to properly expose it. Obviously in terms of it being an artistic video, it doesn’t hit the right mark, because it was more of a blog-type of video because that was the vibe I wanted. I wanted the video to feel like the viewer was there capturing the moments too. I think it made it feel more friendly overall. I made sure that the lighting was even throughout, so I had to do some color correcting in the after production. I think my pacing of the shots is good, and that it has improved since the last project I edited. The shots aren’t short enough that you need to pause the video and go back to see what was happening, but they also weren’t so long that you got bored or started to lose attention to it.
