Report 4_ Caitlyn S

A. Self-Reflection:

  1. The most challenging aspects of the project was managing my time so that I could complete it. In order to complete this project I had to do it later at night which ultimately the indoor lighting was fine but the outdoor lighting was poor and I wish that I did have the resources to produce a better lighted piece.
  2. I found it most enjoyable to work with my friend to come up with a story idea that would last about a minute long and was not only meaningful for me but her also.
  3. I was most proud of being able to do all the roles a group would coordinate. I felt as if I had gained considerable skills that will be a foundation as I strive to become better with filming and premiere.
  4. I learned that I do have the capacity to do multiple tasks and still produce a decent video.

B. Video Analysis

  1. I framed the shots so that they were either centered or followed the rule of thirds. Some clips’ frames were focuttsed on the actress’ face others showed her entire figure as she was interacting. I found that when I wanted to show more emotion and feeling, I focused the lens on her face and when I wanted to stress her actions and intentions, I showed her moving.
  2. The music I found was crucial to fit with the story that I was trying to communicate. I wanted a song that would convey this empty sadness which was really hard because most free audio is upbeat. So instead I purchased the track listen before i go which I believe has the tempo to fit my video and also has lyrics which have a strong connection to my visuals.
  3. Editing was the most difficult part because the timing had to be faster in order to make it one minute. I felt that the pacing was okay but I would’ve liked to make it slower and timid to fit the feeling of the video.
  4. Overall, I am satisfied that I produced a finished piece that I feel conveys what I have learned this semester. I am not satisfied when it came to transitions, graphics, and lighting, but I know that what I have is somewhat sufficient and the elements I am not satisfied with I can strive to do better with in the upcoming years I have left in the New Media program.
