A. Process

For project 3 I contributed in multiple ways, first I organized the opportunity with the IMRC. I talked to Sean and he was excited to have us create a video for the IMRC, I then proceeded to scheduled interviews with Sean, making sure everyone in the team was available. Perry, Tan and I sat down with Sean before the interview and had him describe his vision for the video, in order to get an idea of what we would create. As our team filmed in the IMRC, I was responsible for scheduling when we would all meet and when Sean could demonstrate certain equipment. As well as directing the short movie, I also filmed a couple of the scenes, mainly I filmed B-Roll and did the audio for Sean’s interview.

The film work, audio and editing all came out beautifully. We where prepared with multiple camera’s and a directional microphone with a high quality recording device. The final video was complete and sounded and looked very good. I think as a team we all worked exceptionally well together on this project. Sean requested I we add a final title sequence because he liked the video so much he wanted it on his website for the IMRC. I would say that is the definition of success for a project like this.

Our group worked together very well, although at times our schedules did not line up, everyone liked the project, wanted to contribute and did with great success. Some examples of the success of our collaboration where the 3D printing shots, I scheduled a time with the team and Sean. Sean started the 3D print and we were there with the filming equipment at just the right time to capture the three quarters finished print. One way I feel like I could have contributed more is in the edit, Perry, Carsyn and Tan worked on the edit, I made suggestions but did not do any of the physical editings. I feel it wasn’t necessary and I did my part but I also feel like I could have contributed to the editing process more. Your positions and all that you did.

B. Video Analysis

The message of the promo was to show what the IMRC is about and how you can use the tools they provide to your advantage. The promo we produced did just that, it showed the wide variety of projects people are working on in the IMRC, the tools they have to offer and how they can sign up and use those tools. The video also introduced Sean, and provided his contact information to those wishing to get started at the center.

The shots and sounds we used in the video produced the perfect effect for the message we wanted to send. We used a variety of pan shots, focus fades, still shots (For interview) and more. The shots where stimulating, but also educated the watcher about the different spaces, tools and art at the IMRC. The music is catchy and perfect for a somewhat fast paced video, its not overbearing and Sean’s voice can be clearly heard and understood over it. The dialogue Sean provides combined with the fast past and ” to the point” B-roll created an effect of quality and added to the over all professional aspect of the video. All the shots where clear and stable making everything look professional. Sean plans on putting the video on the IMRC website, I hope people will watch it and want to come to the IMRC and work on whatever it is might inspire them. Full expression of the message and quality of the structure of the promo

C. Client Analysis

The Promo was made of the IMRC. Sean the head of the organization was very excited to have us creating a video for the IMRC. I was somewhat worried he would be disappointed if we couldn’t create a a quality production. After shooting the video and watching the rough draft I was no longer worried, our team had created something quality and professional. We showed Sean the video and he was very impressed and happy with the final edit.
