W1: A short script about the winter exploration of a mysterious factory.
The story follows two college kids who embark on a winter expedition to find a mysterious factory located on a nearby island. The only way to get to the factory is via bridge, but the bridge has been blocked off and the boys must innovate if they are to continue their journey. After studying a map of the area they realize they might be able to walk across the frozen river in order to reach the island.
They find themselves on the island and begin their exploration, eventually reaching the towering edge of the factory itself. The kids explore the factory and make some rather incredible discoveries. The ending of the film is unexpected and confusing, leading the audience to question what they just watched.
I envision this movie with constant shots in motion, pan-shots, tilt-shots and surrounding shots. I would like every scene to have camera motion with the still shot as the exception.
Requirements for film preparation:
2x Cameras
1x Steadicam gimbal.
1x Drone for overhead shots.
1x Tripod
Misc. Probs, flashlights, equipment and so on.
Int. Daytime. A nicely painted house. Living room with a table.
Starting shot:
Shot A1
Camera Fade-In above two men.
A mid-close tilt shot shows the men sitting at a table debating over a map.
Man1: This looks like the only way in but the gate makes it impossible..
Man2: I agree, the barbed wire fence not to mention the drop off.. the only other way would be by boat..
Shot A2
An over-shoulder-close-shot shows the two men debating over a map with what appears to be an island situated in the center.
Shot A3
The shot changes to a mid-range close up of Man1
Man1: The island appears to be closest to land here..
Shot A4
The shot changes as the man talks to a Close up shot of the man’s finger on the map.
Shot A5
The shot switches to a mid-range shot of man2
Man2: If the river was frozen enough we could cross there and walk up behind the facility..
Shot A6
The camera switches to a close up shot of Man2’s finger pointing at a particular part of the map.
Shot A7
The camera switch between Man1 and Man2 as they discuss.
Man1: I agree lets gear up and check it out.
Sequence A8
Fast paced shot sequence of close-up shots of the men grabbing items such as, A hammer, an axe, flashlights, food, rope and a backpack. (Simon Peg style)
Shot A9
Wide angle shot from within the doorway as the two men walk outside, the door slams shut and the screen goes black.
Ext. Midday. Snow on the ground. Clear sky.
Shot B1
Wide-angle-landscape-shot, the two men are back to the camera walking up the street, they walk up a large hill.
Shot B2
The camera switches to a shot of a woodland path. The two men come around the trees and a tilt up shot of the trees above.
Shot B3
The camera tilts down from the trees and follows the two men as they continue to walk through the woods and along a roaring river.
Shot B4
The two men stop at the bank of the river: Camera continues forward, going over the two mens heads and revealing two large cylindrical brick towers in the distance.
Shot B5
The camera switches to a mid-close shot of man 1 and then man 2: They look at each other and the camera switches to a tilt-shot starting at there feet and tilting upward to the frozen river in front.
Shot B6
Close-wide shot of the two mens face as they look at the river.
Man1: Alright
