A. Team Work<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My role in our team for Project 1 was to be in charge of Audio. This included determining shots and where and when the audio would be recorded. Here, I followed through with collecting all of the audio for our video that would be later on edited into our final cut (by our assigned editor Tommy). A few obstacles that came with this was the initial tweaking of the recorder and it\u2019s levels (I even looked up the manual for the exact model of the recorder to double check). All of other roles were listed in the credits at the end of the video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few ideas that are now acknowledged that I would’ve done differently was planning where the location of the recorder would be in each clip prior. This idea is also dependent on what is actually occurring in each scene and if we have to place a focus on a specific sound. For example, in one clip we all came to the conclusion that we were going to place a focus on the sound of a laptop’s keys clicking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amongst the general feeling that my entire team put their best foot forward with this project, I am also especially proud of these aspects I believe we achieved. One, being the certain types of shots we had planned out in depth before. Shots ranging from close-ups to wide pans. We all came to the conclusion that the usage of the “right” shot in a scene is imperative to creating the proper message that one is trying to portray. Another goal I believe we have met was making sure everyone had a specific job and followed through with their responsibilities for that job. Now, since we each had our own different job to contribute to the production of this short film- it seemed easy to separate fully and just do that one job, but that was not the case. Yes, we each had our own duties, but collaborated nonetheless. We were all proactive in helping and assisting one another on any confusion or problems that appeared-even if it was not necessarily one’s assigned task. That is where I believe the best team building techniques are developed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inevitably, every working team will come across difficulties and most likely at unexpected times. Our team in particular had a few minor ones that we acknowledged and tried to act upon as soon as possible. The largest dilemma we had was finding a mutual time that worked to meet for every single one of us. With a large group, we all had varying schedules that really did not match up. So, our way around this obstacle was fully utilizing our class time. The work we did outside of class was done by deciphering who we needed for those specific tasks, and came to the conclusion that we did not need every single member present every time. Yes, we did all attempt and have met as an entire group, but finished by focusing on each individual’s job. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
B. Video Analysis<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As stated previously, one of the large factors that played a key role in the success of our video was the usage and emphasis of specific shot angles. Not only did we focus on specific shots, but multiple other small factors that contribute to the entirety of the film and its intentions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In reference to camera skills, our camera man Will had luckily had previous experience. Along with that, we all discussed the specific shots and planned accordingly to each scene that we were going to create. Before deciding what shots were going to be taken- we imagined and had written a deeper story to have along with the script we had chosen. By writing and creating our own story to go along with it, we believed it helped us create and emphasize emotions that we wanted the viewer to experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After planning all specific shots we had separated them into time frames where we would have the members needed present, and the right location. For example, the first few clips we had shot only included our actress Marion. So, we technically did not need our actor Will H. – who coincidentally could not make it that day anyway. By separating times, it almost made it easier in the sense that we did not need to have people sitting around and “spacing out”. By using this technique. if you were present and with the group that day it was for an important reason and there was no time to be wasted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not only did we put our focus on visuals, but also audio and emphasis on specific subjects of the plot. Being responsible for the recording of the audio for the film I might have a slightly biased opinion on the efforts that followed, but can fully admit that I did pay full attention to the detail that I and my entire team wanted to portray. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
