A. Brainstorm + Research
<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. A local maple sugar business, promoting their products and discussing Maine Maple Sunday (3\/24)<\/li>
  2. PSAs about topics such as vaccinations or climate change<\/li>
  3. PSA about current conditions of the games industry and pushes to unionize<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    B. Sounds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    1. Maple syrup is produced from maple sap so a compelling sound to use for a promotional video would be to have a dripping sound of liquid into a metal bucket. Smaller sugar houses use wood fires to boil the sap that leaves syrup behind so the sound of a crackling fire would also enhance this image. The voice for a piece like this would be educational, trying to promote local business and spread the word about the process of creating maple syrup and buying local. The most fitting music for a piece such as this would most likely be something like an acoustic guitar track to complete a rustic or organic feeling.<\/li>
    2. For a PSA about a controversial topics such as vaccinations or climate change, there are sounds that could establish the subject matter for each of these topics. For climate change, it could be something like weather reports from exceedingly bad storms and for vaccinations it could be something like the sound of coughing. These topics are both rooted in science and have been proven, yet in our society there are still those who deny the research. The best way to convey this information would be in a non-hostile tone. <\/li>
    3. The sounds for a story about the games industry would be fairly straightforward. There are a lot of sounds and music that have become fairly ubiquitous even to people who aren’t familiar with video games. Something that comes to mind are sound effects and music from the old Mario games such as the jump, coin, and 1-up sound effects. The tone would probably be as candid and persuasive as possible to educate people of the situation that game developers find themselves in the current industry, and the benefits of unionization.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      C. Writing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      1. The intended audience for the maple sugar house would be residents of the town, and the client would be the sugarhouse. The goal would firstly be to educate them that this business exists in their town, and that maple sugar products, although full of sugar, are very organic and sustainable being made from the sap. Potential shots could include: close up of a treetap with a metal bucket and the dripping of sap, a wide shot of one of the owners on a four wheeler checking the trees, a medium or close up shot with the sound of the boilers, and some explanation of the process from the owners.<\/li>
      2. For the story about the games industry, the intended audience would be members of the game industry and anyone who plays video games. The goal of this project would be to educate people to how stressful and uncertain the games industry can be. There’s a concept in the games industry known as “the crunch” where developers work ridiculous amounts of time to finish games before release date. Evocative sounds of this would be audible keyboard clacks from programmers and the sound of coffee makers. For imagery, night shots of offices lit by monitors, or of devs sleeping on couches, or at desks. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
