For the film “Time Persists,” there is sound but it is not dialogue. There is only some but that is not the main focus of the film at all. It’s focused on the background sounds and the short phrases that are expressed to one another. The dialogue is mainly mixed in with the other sounds and it creates a tense atmosphere depending on the person that who is talking. The dialogue happens periodically which I think allows more tension to be build up throughout the whole film. It was done really well and I think that it couldn’t have been done in any other way to represent the theme that is at bay.\u00a0When watching this film, the sound effects were the most focused sound in the film. They made sure to get close at the objects that were being interacted with in order to give an effect and a representation out of the piece. It definitely applied a plot and gave it one in the first place.\u00a0There is no song in this film at all and I think that is the point of the entire thing as a whole. To show the dense silence of the woods and applying the anxiety of being watched or that “time is ticking.” Without this effect on the piece I am positive that it wouldn’t be the same film at all. It’s those little differences that change the entire tone of the piece.\u00a0Regardless, when looking through the piece, the colors and the atmosphere and area that it was filmed couldn’t have been any better. There was a for sure creative outlet being taken into account when it come to the works of this entire ordeal. It carries a powerful message that can be interpreted by several different ways, which is what I think makes the piece more special than meets the eye. This deep meaning films always catch my eye. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\nWhen it comes to “Joe,” I think that this was one of my favorite films that was presented to us that day. It grossed me out in so many ways and I think that made the connection to the film more deep and important–making the audience feel for the scenario and bring life to the position that the main character is placed into. There is absolutely no dialogue in the film and that is the must unnerving part! You have to piece together every single bit of the film by context clues and what you examine. Pay close attention to the detail. I don’t think that it is important for there to be dialogue in this film because it allows us to see how these sort of facilities work–not really any emotion and being drained of all hope. These people are mentally ill. When it comes to the sound effects of the piece, we can see that they heavily focus on certain sound effects that allow us to assume the power or position that certain characters have. The sound effects also focus heavily to show us which events that occurring in the scene are important to the plot of the scene. For an example, we hear when the bottle is spilt all over the main character’s shoes. This was such a gross scene when he drank the shoe shiner or whatever product it was! Not a comfortable scene for me which helped with the impact on the audience watching. Very powerful, good on them. Anyways, these sorts of sound effects allow us to determine which events are important to the character and to the plot in general, not only just assuming the power that the characters have other each other. Besides these aspects that are applied to the atmosphere of the film, it is VERY well done. I was constantly amused and entertained. It takes a lot for me to be disgusted by a piece so props to the director of this one. Compared to “Time Persists,” this one has to be the favorite for me.
