Bangor music scene?? Its small and kind of baffling but it does exist

Controversial albums\u2013 what makes a piece outsider art\/avant garde as \nopposed to just bad? Ie farrah abraham \u2018my teenage dream ended,\u2019 corey \nfeldman \u2018angelic 2 the core,\u2019 captain beefheart \u2018trout mask replica.\u2019 \nwhat separates these from other similar pieces that arent as \ncontroversial? Ie kim kardashian \u2018jam (turn it up).\u2019 arguments to be \nmade for both sides, can u evaluate these as art? Is context important? \nEtc. could also tie in experimental and no wave releases\u2013 glenn branca \n\u2018the ascension\u2019 comes to mind, is this even music? Its just drone sounds\n but does the artistic intent behind it make it music? Similar\u2013 bull of \nheaven. Musique concrete too (we have a class on this at umaine, i think\n its a part of new media but could be wrong, could talk to the prof as \nwell as music\/music theory professors). Noise (merzbow and the \ngerogerigegege come to mind) too. Further\u2013 could tie into film. \u2018The \nroom\u2019 dir. Tommy wiseau, \u2018still flowin the movie\u2019 dir. R.A.E.D. etc. \nignore conventions of filmmaking.

Similar vein\u2013 vaporwave. Is it low effort music or is there more to \nbe analyzed there? Example: in floral shoppe by macintosh plus\u2013 is it \njust diana ross slowed down with the reverb turned up to 10 or is it a \ncommentary on consumerism and nostalgia???????

Genre\u2013 is sound or context more important? Ie can something \naccurately be classed as no wave if it wasn\u2019t produced in new york in \nthe late 70s-early 80s? Even if it sounds like other releases in the \ngenre?

Part B:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n So far all of the topics listed above are within our reach to do. \nHowever, the ideas surrounding music might be slightly out of reach due \nto how specific and niche the topics are. But, I do not know much about\n music or the music scene on campus so it might be completely feasible. \n The main issue I see with the music topics as well as the Dungeons and\n Dragons Club topic are the interview topics. Getting people to \ninterview for the music topics might be difficult because of how \nspecific the topics are, but I think it could definitely still be \npossible. And while there are people involved with the Dungeons and \nDragons Club to interview, I do not see much for another point of view \non the subject. Me included, I feel that there really isn\u2019t much of an \nopinion on the topic other than people know it is a game and people play\n it. All of the other topics that we have come up with so far are very \nfeasible because they relate to lots of people, yet can get specific \nenough to get good people to interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Part C:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Although we have not decided on the topic\/idea we will pursue yet, my\n favorite as of right now is the parody of an observational nature \ndocumentary where the subjects are college students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Possible missions statement: The goal of this project is to create a\n funny\/easy to watch documentary about the true college life of \nstudents. This documentary is aimed towards high school\/college \nstudents due to them being able to relate. However, it would also act \nas a true insight to what college life is like to someone in an older \ngeneration. Possible people who can be interviewed who truly know \ncollege student life would be a guidance counselor, professor, an RA, or\n a dining hall employee. The reason why it wouldn\u2019t work to interview a\n student is because they are the subject of this \u201cnature\u201d documentary, \nand there are no interviews with lions or elephants \u201creal\u201d ones. \nObviously the people involved in the making of this would be our group \nwith roles up to what people want. The roles we do need are a camera \nperson, audio person, editor, director, actor, and loose script writer. \n The documentary will be made on campus anywhere there is a majority of \nstudent traffic. The best spots would be the walkways around campus, \nthe library, lecture halls, dorms, and dining halls. The stages of this\n project would be to come up with a script\/directions as to what shots \nwe will get, where we will get them, and what the topics of discussion \nwould be. The narration over the film would most likely be recorded \nbefore the filming as well, then the B role can be put behind it.
