  1. Story Elements:<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    In the short film Farm Time,<\/em> it may not seem like there is a protagonist but the film follows a mother and father who have decided to farm as a lively hood. The mother and father could be considered the main protagonists. The antagonist could be seen as there children’s initial lack of knowledge about the natural world, or how food is grown. The characters face the struggle of not having enough time or land to farm but as they continue the video we learned they have solved these issues by joining a group of farmers who share land and resources. We learn they have become self-sufficient and are now selling there produce to individuals and restaurants around the area.
    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Manipulating Light:<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      The first shot in the film is a pan shot timelapse, the timelapse is taken over the course of four seasons and switches between as the pan continues. This is a beautiful opening shot because it shows the farm throughout the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \tThroughout the film the videographer uses light to his advantage, the first example I noticed is the lighting of his interviews, he arranges them so the backlighting reflects in the eyes of the interviewed person, this causes the person to look healthy and adds another level of beauty to the shot. Another example of how the videographer plays with light and focus are his various shots of farm equipment, in these shots, he changes focus causing the watcher to see both aspects of the seen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Framing<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        All of his shots are steady and professional, he uses a combination of still framed shots for the interviews, pan shots for the opening scene and steady cam shots when showing the farmers market and certain work farm scenes. Overall the way the film is shot is satisfying and provides the watcher with a fulfilling experience.
        <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Visual Style:<\/strong> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          The visual style of the film takes a lot from the natural colors and contrasts of farms in general, his shots are filled with light and color. The greens and browns of the dirt and plantation provide a beautiful color palette to work from. The earthy colors transcend into the interviews through his use of adding a backlight to highlight the eyes of those interviewed. Overall the film provides a very bright color palette, what one might imagine being on a farm in the summer might be like.
