The reason why this was so hard was because since it was filmed as a POV, it was at a weird angle to hold the camera. If i was using a still shot with a tripod, it would be very easy, but the slight shakiness of the hand, as well as having to try to remember the exact framing of everything was difficult. How I got past this was in between shots referring to the previous take and trying my best to memorize important aspects and just try to line the next shot up. The only way I could get it to work was by then watching the new shot and comparing to the before shot and if it was fairly close I kept it. The most enjoyable part to this project by far was the editing. It was like a puzzle trying to line up each shot before and after a snap to try to get a seem-less transition. Also, I found it very enjoyable to come up with unique transitions between shots. The transitions between locations are the parts that I am most proud of because I think they are pretty seem-less and unique. For example, the one cut walking in between two door frames to “teleport” outside. In my eyes I have always been not very creative when it comes to editing videos. However, I found myself being creative in a new and unique way to make my raw clips much more interesting.

B. Video Analysis:

The shots are generally close up to medium shots because it is POV style and the shots are up close for detail of the environment. The composition is always effective because one of the whole points of the video is for the compositions of the shots to change between cuts. All of the shots are in focus, and for a one minute video there are a variety of shots. There are a couple shots in a room, in a dining hall, as well as outside, giving a variety of shots. Also, not only the physical scenes are different, but the color tones of each location adds variety. In the bedroom the colors are very warm and yellow/orange. Outside it is colder because of the grays and greens. And lastly inside the dining hall it is a mix where it is pretty even between cold and warm colors.

There is no dialogue or speaking in the video outside of very quiet background chatter in the dining hall scenes. However, they serve nothing but to add more life to the scenes. The song does fit to the video. The song is generally slower, with a modern hip hopish vibe. However, it also has slight sounds of rainfall in it, which matches the day because in the outside shots it is kind of dreary. Also, all of the sounds add to the story in the snap sounds, as well as ambient sounds.

The editing is pretty fast paced, mainly because it is a one minute video with lots of different shots and compositions. All of the edits and shot do cohere together because a majority of them are all transitions between locations or compositions of shots. I think that the edits are quite astonishing because the snapping adds a sense of magic or disbelief to the story. Also, the transition cuts are pretty jarring because it very quickly moves the viewer into a new environment, keeping to the fast pace.

Overall, I think the video is quite effective at showing a more interesting and magical side to regular tasks that every college student goes through on a day to day basis. I am satisfied with how the video came out, especially with how much was pulled off in a one minute period. However, at first I wanted to work with an overlay effect of animated drawing overtop the video to add a cool effect. However, it became too much and it overwhelmed the video so I scratched it and went with more traditional effects. But outside of that it held up to what I expected it to be in my head.

A. Self Reflection: By far the most challenging part of this project was trying to match…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

46,24

post-3549","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-lab1","category-w4"],"featured_image_urls_v2":
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM.png",1024,542,false
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-300x159.png",300,159,true
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-768x407.png",768,407,true
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-1024x542.png",900,476,true
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-110x110.png",110,110,true],"1536x1536":["https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM.png",1024,542,false],"2048x2048":["https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM.png",1024,542,false
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM.png",1024,542,false
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-550x367.png",550,367,true
https://jolineblais.net/nmd106/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Screen-Shot-2019-04-29-at-6.01.33-PM-300x159.png",300,159,true]},"post_excerpt_stackable_v2":"
A. Self Reflection: By far the most challenging part of this project was trying to match the composition of each before and after jump cut shot to match.
