In one room it’s more natural light or less harsh light. In others like my friend’s dorm room, the harsh light makes me look like a glow stick. I tried to combat this by having my friends turn on their Christmas lights and bringing one of my brightest lamps in, to try and lighten up the room enough. This worked better than the harsh lights, but some part of the video turned out really dark, so I had to edit some of the footage, which is fine.

Which aspects were most enjoyable and why?
-The most enjoyable part was acting with my friends and making fun of my shortness. I’ve come to accept it, and now I even make fun of myself often. Ultimately being able to do something that I wanted to do, with people I wanted to make the video with was the best part.

What were you most proud of accomplishing?
-I was proud of editing the footage and putting the different pieces together. One thing I was proud of is when I jump at one point, I was able to go to a different camera view and have me at the same point in the jump. This makes it seem more crisp and professional. I was also proud of accomplishing to solve the problem of lighting.

What did you learn about yourself during this project–this could be about your relationship to people involved, or to your topic, or to the technical aspects, or other things.
-I learned that filming with the right people and the right topic can be enjoyable and seem less like an assignment and more like an opportunity, and a fun activity. I also got more comfortable with Premiere Pro and filming in general.
B.
Video Analysis –Write a minimum of one paragraph to evaluate your finished Project 4 considering the following:

Camera Skills: How are shots framed? Are compositions effective for the scene? Are shots in focus? Is there a variety of shots?
-The first shot is framed with a wide shot, and it shows me walking into the frame. The second shot is downwards view of me trying to reach the cereal on the shelf, this shows my frustration and what I go through pretty much daily. The third shot shows me from the first camera shot, and the scene shows my friend Billy coming to help me, and then using it as a way to make fun of me. The fourth shot shows his perspective of me as I jump to try and reach, the next show my perspective of him. The camera is actually lower than me, to exaggerate my shortness, which makes it funnier. The following scenes are more stationary, wide shots, showing the environment to allow for movement of the characters. The shots are in focus, sometimes the camera seems to be re-adjusting by itself, not sure why it’s doing it.

Audio/Music: Is dialogue (if any) clear and does it move the plot forward? Is there a music or audio track and does it support the story?
-There is no dialogue, but the music is from youtube free music, and it’s has a childish feeling to it. This is meant to make the video feel lighthearted and funny. The song is longer than the film, so I had to edit the part of the song that overlaps with the ending of the film. I had to make it lessen in volume in order for it to seem more like a natural ending.

Editing: How is the pacing of the story? timing of shots? Do the edits cohere? Do edits build tension or suspense? Are there any jarring moments?
-The pacing of the story is pretty quick, it had to be with the 1-minute time limit. The shots had to be edited and shortened in order to fit them into the limited time frame. I tried to edit the shots in a way that they flow and fit together naturally. There isn’t much suspense or intensity in the video, because I made it be fun and make the audience laugh.

The overall effectiveness of video and story: Are you satisfied, and if not what did you learn that now makes you want to achieve more?
-I’m satisfied with the end result, I would’ve liked to have the video be crisper and the lighting slightly better. But I didn’t want to be responsible for the school’s cameras, and with the time frame my friends were available there wouldn’t be any natural light coming in from the windows. But with those two things out of the way I was very happy with what I was able to do.

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJLyZ5gOFiA A.
