The challenge of casting wasn’t finding the right people, it was finding people at all. Since everyone’s time is limited at the end of the year it was hard finding people, but luckily I found everyone JUST in time.

Which aspects were most enjoyable and why?
The most enjoyable times were when me and Colby, my co-star through it all, were going off script and adding more to the characters by goofing around. One of the most enjoyable nights (not shown in the 106 final video) was when we went to Burlington clothing store and just messed around and got bits for our characters and their style.

What were you most proud of accomplishing?
My proudest accomplishment of this whole project was making a story that handled two main characters wanting two different things but going to get it through the same way: creating music. Also, filming this whole thing in around 3 weeks was a tough thing to do but I love it and plan on continuing to do it.

What did you learn about yourself during this project–this could be about your relationship to people involved, or to your topic, or to the technical aspects, or other things.
This was the first time working on a project to this scale, with around 14 characters and around 18 scenes. Of course, the intro only shows a few scenes but filming for the past three weeks and contacting dozens of people asking about roles hasn’t been easy. The most important thing that I learned through this filming process is make sure you have people casted before filming. This final week I have been trying to find an integral role to the story and thankfully, as writing this as of today, I have found that role, but it would have been less stressful to have the role filled earlier in the film process.
A thing that I fell in love with though was the different colors the cast brought to the film. It wasn’t necessarily the writing but what the actors did in the moment of filming that brought a painting to life. Colby was the brash but lovable, loud rapper, Ethan was the chill producer, Nick was the annoyed but still somewhat supportive roommate/friend. Even the supporting roles that were only in one scene had their own flare to add to the story and film.

B.
Video Analysis –Write a minimum of one paragraphs to evaluate your finished Project 4 considering the following:

Camera Skills: How are shots framed? Are compositions effective for the scene? Are shots in focus? Is there a variety of shots?
Since my film is a mockumentary, it’s shot like a documentary but everything is scripted. The framing of the interviews follows the rule of thirds with the person being interviewed to the side of the screen. Also, during the non-interview parts, the camera is handheld and shot as if it’s behind the scenes of actual events taking place.

Audio/Music: Is dialogue (if any) clear and does it move plot forward? Is there a music or audio track and does it support the story?
Yes, the dialogue is clear and moves the plot forward. The hip hop music track at the end further supports the rap feel throughout the film.

Editing: How is pacing of story? timing of shots? doe the edits cohere? Do edits build tension or suspense? Are there any jarring moments?
The editing of the film follows a lot of the cuts a documentary would between interview and footage of the events.

Overall effectiveness of video and story: Are you satisfied, and if not what did you learn that now makes you want to achieve more?
Overall, I am satisfied with the intro of the film and how it sets up the characters and story to further develop.

A.
Self-Reflection – What aspects of this project were most challenging and how did you…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

41,34,30

post-3787","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-4-storytelling-with-light","category-r4","category-report"],"featured_image_urls_v2":
"1536x1536":"","2048x2048":"
"post_excerpt_stackable_v2":"
A.
Self-Reflection – What aspects of this project were most challenging and how did you meet those challenges?
