The two main characters in this short, the boy and the dog are introduced with friendly playful music and the boy is shown going out of his way to make a collar for the dog. This tells us that they have a caring relationship and the boy is not obligated to be friends with the dog. The boys resistance to hurt the dog in the end of the film confirms his good character because he knows that the dog is only doing what it thinks is right.

A. The shots in this movie are rather still and allow you to clearly ponder the emotions that the characters are expressing throughout the story.

A. The overall pace of the movie is fairly slow because there is not much dialogue and the camera pans are short. The cut after the first traumatic scene when the boy is young and forced to put the dog into a bag to when it shows him several years older is smooth and helped to seamlessly progress the story. Before the cut it shows a close up of the boys crying face and then it cuts to two boots and pans up to the flag pole where the movie had originally began, although this time he is raising a different flag, showing that much has changed in the world over the years but things are relatively the same for the life of this boy.

A. The lack of background noise and close head shots from the camera during intense moments definitely helped to make the whole film more emotional. Without a lot of movement and distracting noises the viewer is really encouraged to think about whats going on in the minds of the characters.

Terminator 2

One of the main characters in this film is first introduced by a narrator, most likely because this is the second part of a story and it takes place in both the future and the past helping the viewer to understand the story. The narration also explains what the terminator is before it is introduced letting the viewer know what to expect from his entrance, and you are immediately shown what the character is capable of when he creates a bar fighting multiple people without taking a scratch.

In just the first four minutes of this movie there are several different settings. It first shows what is the present during the time of the movie and shows people living regular lives in a city. This is to show what life was like before the next scene which is in a barren post-apocalyptic future.

There are a lot of slow shots in the beginning to show the viewer that they are meant to be focusing on the setting to highlight how the world has changed.

The editing makes the events in the beginning appear to move slowly to make a more dramatic entrance of the terminator character and allow the viewer to anticipate action. The scene first changes after a slow motion shot of two children on a swing set in a city, it then changes to the future which shows two adult skeletons in a car also in a city.

The lack of music and echoing city noises and voices in the background of the first scene help to set the tone and show that there is something uneasy about the setting or that something bad is going to happen.

A.
