We are interested in exploring the winter’s at school here and the appropriate attire to wear out, especially when people go out to parties. For person we could go to UMPD or UVAC and ask questions and their opinions on what happens around campus related to the students and the weather. We can also touch upon some of the injuries that have occured because how dangerous the weather is in the winter. Something that definitely sparked my interest in this is the mall and football field on campus and how there was so much ice that the entire land froze over seemingly into a ski rink. The activity is mostly focus on college kids going out and partying but wearing little to no clothing in the dead of winter. Behavior I witness and would like to capture for B roll is people wearing shorts to class or a just a sweatshirt. There is no apparent business that could be associated with this topic or event. But past events could be covered of injuries related to the weather. This has been talked about among the school and they have sent out statements and warnings to students, yet students are still dressing inappropriately. We could recover some local news media coverage on events and snowstorms in the area.
The topic is very acceptable for our area and time. We would be able to ask students, teachers, UVAC, UMPD about issues concerning the climate and students. This can be looked at in a couple of different ways through student perspectives, through medical professional perspectives, and though law enforcement perspectives. The observable activity and nature would be observing the actions of students and their health during the winter and filming them wearing inappropriate clothing.
Crew- The documentary will be based on the inclimate weather at the university of maine following student lives and their safety.
We will make this documentary investigative and informative as well as making it heartwarming in hopes to get a message across to our audience that their safety is at risk and they should listen to these statements given by the University.
John will be the editor, Colleen will be directing, Colin will be in charge of filming, Jordan and Carly will be in charge of audio and research.
This documentary will be filmed in various sites around campus including, UMPD, UVAC, the mall, college ave, and any other places we feel will add to our production and our goals.
We will meet as a team at first to discuss approaches and specifics shots as well as B roll. We will also email UMPD, UVAC, etc to ask for interviews/ any comments on this topic. As well as stopping by Cutler health center to see if we are able to get any comments. We will all come together to film and acquire as many interviews and footage that we can. When post production time comes the director will sit down with the editor to discuss effective ways of relaying the message we are trying to tell and any other comments and concerns.
