Writing 2: MK Jones
PITCH:
My name is Mary Kate Jones and I am a current student at the University of Maine. I am emailing you to ask if you would consider funding our project.
A group of New Media majors, including myself, are creating a documentary about the parking situation at the University of Maine. Students are not happy with it, and are requesting that something changes. We will be interviewing UMPD, students who commute to campus, students who live on campus but have cars, and the people who work for the Parking Services.
The reason we are creating this project is because we want to see a change here at the University. We have not heard of anybody who is currently happy with the parking situation here on campus. We are hoping that making a film about it will finally get the student body to be heard. In addition, it is a subject we all care about very much, and the impact it has on the student body, and faculty, will directly benefit us, and make our lives just a bit easier and less stressful, and possibly make the campus more money if they sort out the issue.
The project will be filmed by New Media majors. I am the script writer, and an interviewer. Sara Taylor will be an interviewer, and our audio editor. Claire is our director. Thaj Garvey is our video editor. Zacary Fitts is our camera man.
The documentary will be taking place on the University of Maine, Orono, campus. We will be talking to students, UMPD, and people who work for the Parking Service, so it will all be on campus. We will be filming the parking lots as well.
We will first be scheduling interviews, and filming b-roll at the same time. Once the interviews are scheduled, we will go ahead and film those. Additionally while we are waiting, we will be talking to students about their opinions on the parking situation on campus, and use that as voiceover. Finally, once we have the film edited, we will add in the audio and voiceovers.
