Final Decision

Our groups final decision was to create a promotional video for the Late night local. The late night local is a non profit organization run by a fraternity and a sorority. They provide the service of free rides on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30 to 1:30. They drive around Campus, Orono and parts of Old town in search for students walking on the streets in need of a ride. During the winter temperatures here in Orono drop below freezing and it is very dangerous for students to walk alone outside, either coming from or going to a party. Students have actually past away from the cold, walking home from parties. This is obviously a huge issue and the late night local attempts to mitigate the dangers of traveling to and from campus at night.

Our plan is to interview as many members of the late night crew as possible and incorporate B- roll shots of the van and students walking on the road to visually supplement the information from the interview. We also plan on interviewing students who have used the local as a way to gain perspective from those who have used this service. A lot of students on camps don’t know what the late night local is because of the lack of advertisement for the service. We hope that our video will spread awareness of the service that these two greek organizations offer to the students of Umaine to mitigate the dangers involved with to and from campus.
