Writing 4-OliviaBurton

Personally, I think it would be rather difficult to not describe one’s personal style in a non-biased way, but I think I am sure of a few true aspects. One, being that with my favoritism in documentary style videos I long to aim for the aesthetic of making this short video “hip” but informative in the sense that I would like to make this subject more known to the public. Inevitably, the subject (personal tattooing) definitely captures one specific trait I find very personal to me. I did my first ever tattoo on myself with my two best friends from home when we were sophomores in high school. After that managed to lie to my mom for three months claiming the peace sign on my finger was “long-lasting henna” (woops). So, with having a connection with the subject I want to portray in a specific light- I think it is extremely important to push my “style” upon it as much as possible.

I have been a devoted YouTube enthusiast for as long as I can remember in which definitely played a key role in me acknowledging and developing my own style specifically in film and photography. Throughout the years of sifting through suggested videos I came across people I have admired and been inspired by. Influencers such as people like Casey Neistat have subconsciously taught me about angles and shooting with a specific style. I remember one of the first videos I watched over and over that stuck with me was the Valentine’s Day video he made for his girlfriend named “A Love Letter To Candice”. In which, was literally almost entirely made of candid clips throughout their time spent together with voiceovers, music inputted into the background and then clips cutting in of him speaking in front the camera telling a story. Now, I have definitely seen similar videos like this, but for some reason it stuck with me and triggered me to favor the realism and especially candids that make the viewer feel a sense of authenticity- rather than blatantly noticing something is staged.
