Introduction: For my final film project, I am planning on producing a cat chase scene. Due to the feline actors, filming will be a lengthy and most likely arduous process. I have a shot list made out with preparation in regards to two cats. However, as one of the cats already seems a bit precocious of the outdoors, these plans may change.
Concept: The smaller cat is curious of the outdoors after a life of being cooped up inside. An opportunity for escape enables this possibility and forces the bigger cat to venture out after him in an attempt to reign him in.
Shots: The film will open and close with a still shot of the indoors. Once the story progress towards the wild outdoors, the camera will begin to move and continue to accelerate in order to give the narrative a faster pace. Upon arriving in the middle of the woods, the cats will be forced to turn around due to an unknown (to them) noise or ominous feeling. Upon retreat, the cats will reverse roles and the bigger cat will be the first one indoors.
Sounds: As audio, in my opinion, is my weakest point I will try to weave a variety of sounds into the narrative. Currently, I am planning to record and use
– forest background noise
– cat meows / complaining noises
– leaves crunching
– Wind whirring
And possibly I will use
– storm sounds of thunder & lightning
– sounds of household chores
– Fence clanging sounds
