An interesting event that I recently witnessed was a dispute between my dorm mates in my hall. It was a combination of heat and pure frustration.

I walked into my friend’s room, Rose, and we began to discuss an issue at bay. She was in a dispute between her and our friend Kyle. Basically, what had happened is that Kyle thought that Rose and her boyfriend were ignoring Kyle and avoiding him, but that wasn’t the case at all. He misinterpreted their silence as a way of saying “go away.” In reality, they were just on their way to the door and didn’t give them time to get to the door before Kyle left.

Eventually I was sick of this, so I brought Rose into Kyle’s room so that they could hash it out. Once upon bringing them into Kyle’s room, there was already an audience in the room. We had Ben, Jake, me, Mary, and of course Kyle and Rose. The yelling didn’t take long to start. Kyle was being ignorant towards the situation and they were constantly saying over and over again their story, slowly revealing more details about what had gone down. Through constant screaming and plenty of people intervening, especially me, the tense situation finally boiled down and I just said, “I am going to bed now.” I basically forced them into settling the situation by saying that I am going to sleep which I think helped lighten up the air and bring peace between the two of them. Everyone agreed that they should move past it and so time continued like always. Turns out immaturity comes in all ways.

Throughout these scenes we can see that they were both sitting on opposing sides of beds, facing each other. Each sides of the situation were sitting with the person they sided with in the situation as an entirety. I stood in the middle.
