What is the setting?
The setting takes place on campus near the Outdoor adventure center where the potholes are really bad. The Time is midday with clear skies.
What led up to the event? Is there any description that can help to set the scene properly and dramatically?
Scene starts with the subject talking on the phone to his mom as he is carrying an empty box walking from a dorm to his car saying, “Yeah just got the last load now I need to finish unpacking.” “Yeah miss you too, okay bye.” The car is nice and clean as it is not ready for a new england winter. We hear him get in the car as the camera angle is low to show the license plate, camera stays here until car takes off and becomes out of focus.
Describe the actions of the scene. As you present us with a person or people, have their actions define their character. You may also give physical description.
Camera cuts to interior of the car (passenger seat) as the subject starts to drive off and cruise along. He’s waving to people and letting people cross on the sidewalks. (camera angles cut from reaction shot of walker waving to interior of car) Subject is loving life and being happy, until he comes across the potholes on the road. As the car is going over the potholes, the subject reaches for something but the actions are violent in the car as things (books, loose papers, coffee, pencils, anything and everything) are being aggressively tossed around, including the subject (camera is in the back seat with lots of movement to exaggerate everything flying around). The subject is disheveled and turned around as his car is ruined. He pulls over and walks around to assess the damage. Everything seems to be fine but he is still super confused. People walking by ask what the matter is and after he explains what happened, they just say, “Welcome to Maine!” Scene ends with subject driving off, (with similar license plate shot from before) then hits another pothole and we hear him faintly yell, “Are you kidding me?!”
What kind of gear (cameras, tripods, sound recording, etc) do you plan to use?
Black magic if available, if not, I have a Canon Rebel t3i with a rode mic and tripod we could use.
