In our second project we were tasked with making a documentary in a way that is similar to a segment of a news broadcast. For our group we really had no choice but to make it about UMaine because we don’t have the budget to travel. And then since we were in the mindset of a news broadcast, we had to think about all of the hot topics that were going on at that time. And luckily for us there just so happened to have been the petition for UMaine to fix the pot holes. And from there we were golden. That is what we wanted to do our project on. The topic is appropriate given the setting and time of year. We are already based in UMaine, so it is very accessible for us to get opinions on this topic. I think that given the time of year there will be plenty of content for us to make this idea a reality. It’s not overly complex and it stays focused and to the point. This was our only idea leaving us plenty of time to talk about development.
I feel this topic is important because with the help of that petition we might actually be able to play a part in making a change here on campus and that is pretty cool. However, in order to do it I will need to convince people to interview with me. This sometimes may not always be all that easy. In order to convince someone to help out I would tell them there is a petition going around because the roads are currently at there all time low. And all the campus has been doing is simply “filling” the pothole but when cars drive over them it digs all of the fillings out. Therefore, making it worse and worse. Even if you don’t drive to classes repaving the walk ways and areas around the walk ways would help. Especially when it rains because there are huge puddles or when cars drive by. Participating in a quick interview will help urge UMaine to make a change.
The purpose is to showcase if UMaine should repave the roads on campus. We will include the students as well as the administration in our project. I personally want to see this project through because I want my car safe when I am on campus. I also want to see my campus look nice with walk ways and roads. And this is part of the college experience to try and make a change. I invasion our team working together as crew to get interview footage. Therefore, we can all do it whenever we would like, making the availability not that big of a deal. We will try and interview people that we see. This documentary will be made on the UMaine campus. The last project time line worked well. The first week is panning and the second week is shooting and gathering content. And the last week is editing and finishing up.
