A).

  1. Someone who I find interesting and would make a captivating interview would be my cousin. He travels all around the country taking people on backpacking trips through various mountain ranges. He’s been a guide of many different things such as white water rafting, backcountry ski/snowboarding, rock climbing, kayak and many others. I feel like he would have many stories that could inspire or motivate.
  2. I think the new Orono Brewing Company’s new brewery would be an a cool place for an interview. Could try and get an interview with maybe the head master brewer or even an employee whose worked at the old brewery as well as the new and try and get an understanding of the transition from a small brewery to a a larger sized one. Get a feel for how the management has changed and if the customer base has changed.
  3. Interviewing school athletes on the topic of getting paid to play. Many people think that it’s not fair to have college athletes risking their health to play for schools, but if they want to go pro they need to play in college first. Getting the schools opinion on that topic as well as the players, and fans would be a good documentary in my mind.
  4. I think a behavior worth investigating would be the use of tinder and other dating/hooking-up apps. Do people think they can find love on tinder or do they think it’s just a place for casual encounters. Is Tinder degrading or is it just a convenient way to meet many people in a short amount of time.
  5. It could be worth investigating the three big pizza places around Orono. Pats Pizza which has been around by far the longest, OHOP which is newer and offers an atmosphere and as place to gather with friends and drink, and Dominos which is open the latest and offers the most bang for your buck.
  6. I am not currently aware of any notable events going on on or off campus at this moment that would be good for the project. Not to say that there are none at all but just none to my knowledge.
  7. Could interview students and teachers about the New Media major and wether or not they think it’ll be absorbed by the Computer Science major. Or ask them how they feel about the topic in general. Are students getting the most out of this major and if so why is it a possibility that it goes under
  8. I have no footage linked to a person at this time.

B).

  1. I made the list above thinking of topics that would actually be possible to do for this class. With that, I find all of my options to be viable.
  2. All of them are within a close proximity of the campus and could be easily accessed by car. Some would need need permission Im sure before being able to conduct a full on interview but I have not gathered yet any of that yet I will however acquire permission for what subject my group and I settle on.
  3. I believe that my list of potential documentary subjects would hold enough interesting matter to captivate an audience for the 7 minutes with the exception of the event category. All of them are relevant and would really come down to what questions I was asking the subject. They all have familiarity (other than my cousin) that would automatically get the viewer curious if not interested.
  4. These topics can have a lot to cover but each can be narrowed down to specifics and just get the general feel of both sides of the argument. Important to focus on getting peoples opinions across rather then to try and find and “right” answer to the questions you’re asking.

C.

1.

To my crew,

I believe it is important to gather interviews from a wide range of people to cover this topic. Genders, ages, students, and professors all have different ways of looking at this topic and would could really shine the light from different angles so to speak. Pornography can be an uncomfortable subject for people which I why I think it will make a compelling video, but also why it may make are jobs a little more challenging. One big thing I think we need to keep in mind is that, since this is an uncomfortable topic for some it’s important to keep it light. I feel that this particular topic will only thrive with a mixture of seriousness and lightheartedness. All in all the goal of this project is to gather as much information as we can in as fair of a way as we can and come out with a film worth watching.

2.

  1. The effects adult films can have on peoples real life sexual experiences. We will conduct interviews with students on campus as well as a professor for our professional interview.
  2. It’s a topic that not many people like to talk about yet most people are involved with it. It automatically makes the film more interesting since it’s such a “private” topic. I feel like asking some uncomfortable question such as the ones we will ask can really be good practice for us as interviewers.
  3. Perry-sound and editing, Than-camera and editing, Maeve-organizing and editing, Maizy- camera, interviewing and editing, Me – camera, editing, and interviewing.
  4. All of the shooting will be done around campus in various locations. (Union, Library and Merril)
  5. First week contains voice overs and B-roll, second week we do student interviews and the Professional interviews with a rough cut done by Friday the 15th.
