Hey guys, we should do a interview project on the parking problems around campus. We should interview UMPD and the parking services so we can get first hand information coming from campus professionals. We should make this because it brings to light a lot of the issues with parking and parking regulations around campus, it could possibly alleviate some confusion people might have about the parking regulations, and this project could serve to show Campus employees that there are some issues with parking that really should be addressed. Sara, you could be the audio specialist. Tahj, you could be the main editor. Claire, you should be the director. MK, you can be the screenwriter, and i’ll be the cameraman. The documentary can be made right on campus. We can use shots of the parking lots all around campus to give a visual aspect of what we are talking about throughout the interview. First we can take video shots of different places on campus for a good visual narrative. Then we can do our interviews with the professionals on campus. After we finish our interviews we can do some voice over audio for transitions and context throughout the different interviews.
Interview Questions for Parking Services:
- Do you sell more parking passes than there are parking spaces?
- Are there any plans for parking?
- Why is the parking set up the way it is? What does it hope to eliminate/make easier?
- Is there anything the students are doing to make the parking harder?
- Is there anything to make the parking easier?
- How is parking ideally meant to function?
- What determines a car getting towed vs getting a ticket
- How many tickets are issued per semester?
- Which permit holder gets ticketed the most?
- If you have a blue pass are you allowed to park anywhere? If not, why do they never get tickets when they park in black?
- Have you been hearing the opinions of the Parking situation from the students and faculty?
Interview Questions for UMPD
- Do you think parking services have taken it too far with ticketing?
- In your years working here, have you seen any changes in the parking services? Have they accommodated for students in the past?
- How many students appear to be stressed and/or anxious when they come in to pay their parking ticket?
- In your opinion, what is it about the current parking system that is problematic?
- What do you think UMO students and faculty need to do to get the attention of Parking Services?
- How does the parking permit system affect your job? Does it make it harder to answer calls if someone is parked illegally?
