My final project for NMD 106 was quite challenging, but also very rewarding. Trying to compose an entire piece of film in a one minute time span was difficult, but it also required a good amount of editing and decision making to make the piece come together. The best part about filming was going to one of my favorite local parks and being able to capture its beauty in a different kind of way than just taking photographs. I feel like my final scene in the film was really a nice way of using screen manipulation to convey a story in a shorter amount of time. While filming I realized that it’s important to have a person there with you that enjoys filming as much you do.

I feel like the shots were framed nicely. We used multiple camera angles that captured the main arc well, and told a clear story. There was absolutely no dialogue in the film but there was a soundtrack that helped set the tone of the film nicely. The ominous music mixed with the lack of human voice or interaction whatsoever really helped the overall suspense of the film. In terms of editing, the shots were rather varied in terms of duration. There were some faster shots that had a close up shot to help fit the story in one minute, and all of the edits were concise and made sense going forward. I am overall happy with the way the film came out. One thing that I noticed is that the story was rather linear in its approach. When I attempt this challenge next I will try to make it more deep in terms of storytelling and spacing.
