Identity Supported:

Bitmoji’s are completely customizable by the user and allows the user to have a free expression

Destiny 2 characters are mostly customizable by the user and allows the user to have a free expression.

Xbox characters are mostly customizable by the user and allows the user to have a free expression.

Identity Unsupported:

League of Legends has unrealistic body types, and the characters are preset to look certain ways, or behave in game.

Madden has stats generated by an analysts to decide what the effectiveness of each player is. Some ratings are impossible to reach, or offensive to hard working players.

Pokemon Trainers in the newer games only allow you to pick between a few looks, and in the past you could only pick ‘Boy or Girl’ with no ability to customize them.

A lot of games are making the transition to support self customization, or relatable characters to bring you more in to the game. Unlike Destiny, Snapchat(Bitmoji), and the Xbox avatars, games like League of Legend, Pokemon, and Madden NFL all have biases based around common stereo types. In Madden, all of the characters are based off of real people in the NFL, their stats are purely given to the based off of popularity and their performance through out the previous season. Games like League of Legends and Pokemon, change your look based off of their reprieved stereotypes, on their designs of the characters. This not only disengages the user from the stories, it can emotionally hurt someone, and it could set unrealistic standards for those around them.
