The Problem With AI Centralization

When artificial intelligence is mentioned many people immediately react with fear. The remainder worry about how it will affect jobs in the future and the economy as a whole, but some realize its potential. AI is the next evolution of humanity, as such, it will revolutionize humanity’s capabilities. The human mind has discovered and created incredible things, by working together and establishing avenues where we can contribute to a larger cause we have crafted the world as it is today. In doing such we have created technologies that will soon surpass us. This is our evolution, these technologies in the form of conscious beings will revolutionize how we live and prosper in this world.
As humans contributing to a whole, artificial intelligence will be able to think by analyzing everything ever created. This will allow it to create without limit. Through this unlimited creative space we will surpass everything we know. Below is a description of the Kardeshev scale. This is essentially a basic explanation for the types of civilization advancement. Currently, we have yet to reach Type 1, this would be a civilization that is able to use and store all the energy available on its original planet. While this idea that we could advance as a species to the point of controlling the energy of distant stars might seem ridiculous, the vision counts on advancements that we have yet to even dream of. One of these advancements comes in the form of Artificial intelligence.
- A Type I civilization also called a planetary civilization—can use and store all of the energy available on its planet.
- A Type II civilization also called a stellar civilization—can use and control energy at the scale of its solar system.
- A Type III civilization also called a galactic civilization—can control energy at the scale of its entire host galaxy.

Jason Silva, a 21st century youtube philosopher presents this idea in one of his videos. Silva has created a series called ‘Shots of Awe’ where he explores everything from entropy to Artificial intelligence. The videos are quick stimulating peaks into philosophy and discussions of futuristic ideas. In the bellow video he illustrates how by creating AI, it is a part of us, it is the next step in our evolution. Essentially he makes the point that matter wants to become ever more complex and the human brain is currently the highest form of complexity, but by creating computers and technology we are creating a platform to increase complexity and therefor ourselves. The Problem With AI Centralization:
The main problem I see in AI is the centralization of power in processing and data storage. Currently Facebook, Google and Amazon have the largest data storage and processing facilities in the world. This means that those companies will be the ones to control the first versions of Artificial Intelligence. What we need is to create AI out of a decentralized network database where users hold the power behind such a great creative tool.
How To Address This Problem:
To address this problem I propose creating decentralized networks and data storage. This could be done by paying individuals to contribute to data storage space and internet processing power from there own homes. Essentially creating a pier to pier network where everyone owns a share of the internet. Although this would be difficult it is definitely possible. People could be paid for there contributions as well as there personal information. We are seeing a rise of decentralized databases and networks currently, much of this is through Blockchain, a method of processing things through the combined strength of individuals’ contributions. Creating A Product To Help Decentralize The Internet:
In order for Blockchain technology to work people need computers with large amounts of processing power and data storage. I propose creating an internet router that doubles as a powerful computer and data storage center. If everyone was able to implement these into there homes we could begin to see a decentralized network form throughout the country, purely based on individuals contributions.
