- How does AI benefit one’s life?
- Some believe does not necessarily “exist” yet. It is technically not advanced enough to be considered artificial intelligence.
- The direction AI is headed in does not appear positive, but does still hold benefits on the devices.
- The assistance to human life. Such as, the situation where AI plays a role in detecting cancerous tumors (faster than the human eye can detect).
- Technological advances can lead to medical advances in which lead to human advances.
- Cons of AI:
- Does not consider general ethical values such as emotions, race, etc.
- “AI is when a technological device is able to be independent and write its own code as it loops” (grow on its own in a sense).
- Fears Sourcing From AI:
- “Kill Decision” is described by Daniel Suarez in his TEDtalk “The kill decision shouldn’t belong to a robot”. This is sourced from his discussion on the rise of drones, automated weapons & AI-powered intelligence gathering tools. He believes it is the beginning of a “automation revolution”.
“We are at the dawn of an Automation Age, and narrow (or weak) AI software agents are its hallmark. Narrow AI is distinctly different from the sort of human-level (or strong) AI we know from science fiction. Your narrow AI-powered GPS unit doesn’t contemplate the why of your proposed trip to Reseda. It simply creates the most efficient route to get there.” This was stated in the TEDTalk Article summarizing Daniel Suarez’s discussion.
