The Internet has changed the way we make decisions. More and more, it is not individual humans who decide but an entangled, adaptive network of humans and machines.  (W. Daniel Hillis  229)

I chose this quote because I’ve seen the internet and social media change people and basically let other people make their decisions for them.  Their lives have been consumed by the internet.

Unlike most people born in the same time frame as me, I was introduced to the internet later than usual.  I was always the last person in my school to join in on all the social medias.  It was a mixture of my parents not letting me and me not wanting to.  Before I was introduced to social media and the internet I did a lot of outdoor activities, mostly just sports.  I was huge into sports when I was really young and I still am.  So before I had the internet I would always go outside and play football with my dad or baseball with my brother.  There wasn’t a whole lot of time spent indoors but I do remember watching lots of tv when there was no internet.

But now that I do have access to the internet, things are a little different.  I haven’t let the internet consume my life like it has for most people.  People nowadays feel the need to please other random people online with their cool selfies or outfit or whatever they are doing that they think other people care about.  They way these people choose to act is based off things they see other people do online.  No one is them self anymore.  The internet is taking over people’s lives and causing them to do things they wouldn’t typically do if there was no internet.  The biggest thing that changed for me is the way I communicate with people.  I used to be able to grab the landline and call my friends but now I contact them through a form of social media.
