I would like to acknowledge and attempt to tackle the problem of mental health and how technology can sometimes be the culprit of many dilemmas with mentality. I would create a an app that would help lead an individual through personal struggles with an AI system that would continue to write itself and evaluate the personal traits that will ultimately play into what treatment is recommended. Once evaluating the individual, possibly with a list of questions that change with every answer given to create a more descriptive input.
A large portion of society could blame some of their struggles with depression and other mental struggles due to social media’s presence and affect on their views on their personal image and others.
A possible step-by-step process of how to tackle the dilemma of Mental Health:
- A series of questions to understand the individual and to literally write the rest of the experience for one (depending on answers given).
- Once evaluating the user- it will connect the user to a series of solutions.
- Not only will it lead the user to solution (e.g. finding an interesting hobby you might not have known to like.), but it will also connect you with other individuals who are going through a similar situation.
- Throughout the process, the program will track progress. Referring to progress levels, it will lead to calculating what other solutions will be implemented to an individual.
Solutions for Specific Dilemmas Can Include:
In an article titled “5 Ways To Fight Social Media Addiction” by Raj Dash found on AdWeek, there are a list of steps to supposedly ‘fight’ social media addiction. The first mentioned step is to ‘focus’. This is explained in the broad sense to limit the number of social media networks that you use. To ultimately narrow it down to the ones’ that seem to be deemed necessary. Although, that can be open to translation and vary from person to person. So, technically is just a personal judgment demanding request.
The second listed step or method is to “Cull your network”. Yet again, this is another request for personal judgment and most importantly self control. In which, can be recognized in all steps as the ultimate factor in deciding what will lessen the chances of getting carried away with social media.
Overall, the dilemma with social media can be so incredibly specific that it makes it nearly impossible to assume an entire population of individuals will respond to the same set of useful methods to boycott the addictive aspect. That is why- the method that would make the most sense would be to personalize these methods in a program to find better fits for specific people. By following questions, it will narrow these people by their responses into varying groups that will get smaller and smaller as the questions go on. Eventually, leading them to a figurative diagnosis of what type of technical dilemma they are dealing with.
