I’ve been using a website to organize what music I listen to and to better expose myself to new sounds for the last 8 or so months. This website, RateYourMusic, or RYM, has exposed me to a variety of different sounds and different cultures since I have began using it. Not only is a good start to figuring out what you want to listen to by using it’s chart algorithms or user generated lists, but once you find music that you enjoy, you can look at that artist’s page to find music that would be considered similar to it OR look at artists that other people like that also like this particular artist. Since I began using this website in March I consider my “musical horizons” to be broaden and I’m definitely more open to different types of music.
