(New Version)

A community that will always be near and dear to my heart is my home town of Scituate Massachusetts. A modern technology that has impacted the lives of the townsfolk recently for the better was the construction of a brand new middle school, and with it the town’s decision to purchase a large quantity of ipads for the school to use. The new middle school offers a much better environment to learn in than the old one that was falling apart after decades of use, and the ipads are loaned out to students in bad financial situations to give them readied access to the internet as it has become a central part of modern learning. Another, far older, technology that has been essential to life in scituate and other coastal towns is that of the artificial sea wall. Sea Walls are instrumental in blocking high tides and waves from spilling out into streets and houses on the shore. As for negative tech I chose discardable one use plastics. As a beach town, plastic washing up on the beach and killing local wildlife is a constant problem that messes with the beauty and functionality of the land.
