DIY Strategy –
An example of a new media ‘Do it yourself’ project is WikiHow and YouTube. Both of these websites are absolutely fantastic for figuring out how on earth to do something. A great opportunity of a project would be creating a website, or mobile app that strips the idea “Do it yourself” into an encyclopedia like experience. For example: If you were to get stuck on the road, via flat tire, you could get a step by step guide on how to change it etc. The initial focus of the app should help stream line or teach the end user how to do something properly. I like the idea of how WikiHow uses illustrations to display how one does something, and that could be incorporated with a video to actually show and explain to the user how it should be completed.

CROWDSOURCE THE JOB –
While crowd sourcing the job is a fairly basic task, it is what ended up creating the modern day computer. Crowd sourcing can be extremely effective as more minds are working toward one solution or product, and using their own experiences to enhance or improve something. Indiegogo and GoFundMe are great websites that create a lot of funding for companies to start up and manufacture products. ArcGIS is a very unknown software that actually is a great too, it shows data on nearly anything you could think of on a map, as it is supposed to visually represent the data uploaded by scientist, students, researchers you name it. A project idea I can think of, is creating a website to crowd source the funding of a city, charity or anything above. Communities are powerful when united, and if everyone agrees that something needs to be changed, why not fund it, or overrule it themselves? The website would have categories and locations to connect every user to every group possible. Example: There is a flood expecting to raise water levels in our city, that could damage a ton of house. If it gets crowd sourced, or an event is organized, they could create a way to make a barrier to prevent overflow, or brace their community for the flood.

MOBILIZE PEOPLE –
Mobilizing the people is creating a massive amount of people, or community, based off of a common interest or goal and is brought together by the idea of mobile devices. Many people these days use dating apps that pair a lot of people together with a swiping systems that is generally based on swipes or common interests. The jobs on the market today are absolutely insane and most times borderline impossible to keep with a good social life, or school together. Where these dating apps fall short, is that its based of off the general area you are in and other users that are using the app. but why not have an app that asks about your interests, and then the sub-categories to those interests. After collecting data, the database should find users that are within feet of each other and request that they should talk. This doesn’t have to be a full on dating app, it could be an app to make friends, or provide an easier way to connect with others in this busy world. The only app I can think of that behaves in this way is NearPeer, but its lacking in its actual ability to match you up with friends.
