Usually creating films is left for Hollywood, but even movies can be crowdsourced. Britain in a Day is a film in which the footage was gathered from individuals. All of the footage was taken on the same day, November 12, 2011, by members of the general public. The result is a 90-minute perspective into a day in Britain.

DIY

One recent and extremely valuable form of DIY is using 3D printers to DIY Prosthetics. Prosthetics are very expensive, some cost upwards of $10,000! But now, using 3D printing, life-changing prosthetics can be made for as little as 150$. In the United States, there are many people without access to prosthetics, but with 3D printers becoming more and more accessible, so will things like prosthetics.

Sometimes making developers tools available to the public can help create more income for companies and small-time developers alike. Roblox is a game that my little sister plays a lot. I didn’t really notice, however, what it was until recently. Roblox is a world where individual developers can create games, objects, skins, etc to add to the game. Roblox makes all of the tools necessary available at https://www.roblox.com/create.  These games and skins and objects can be sold to the 50 million players and earn developers’ currency called Robux. This can be translated into real cash that the small-time developers receive. Some individuals can make serious cash. Roblox has its own economic system and the developer’s tools are readily available for anyone to download and begin using. Honestly, I’m surprised by all of this, because I had always considered Roblox as more of a knock-off Minecraft, but in reality, you can recreate other entire video games using these developers’ tools. If you can overlook the immaturity and oddity of what Roblox’s userbase is, then I mean go for it!
