Brainstorm:
Read, Mnemonic devices, associations, actively watch movies, conversing, creating or interpreting art and music, practice skills, journaling, meditation, learning instruments, photography, writing, cooking
Remember: you are catering to a 13 year old with a short attention span, and who does not respond to certain authority. They are emotionally unstable, insecure, and look up to celebrities and older teenagers.
Ideas: Show clips of somebody who is missing out on great life moments because they are suffering from phone addiction. Show the benefits of critical thinking instead.
“The sad result is that the smartphone keeps us on automatic pilot and inhibits us from making healthy choices. We’re socially isolated, intolerant of boredom, and always connected somewhere other than where we actually are at the moment. High on the list of unhealthy smartphone habits is compulsive use and distractibility.”
“Excessive smartphone time can decrease time spent socializing face-to-face, bonding with family, exercising, and doing other things that promote creative thinking, self-discipline, and pro-social skills. To prevent this, we must find a healthy balance between smartphone use and other important aspects of our lives.”
